This is the final Building Blocks report, marking the end of the initiative. The goal of the Building Blocks for Youth initiative were to reduce the overrepresentation and disparate treatment of youth of color in the justice system, and to promote fair and effective juvenile justice policies. The purposes of the report are (1) to document effective efforts that advocates around the country have made to reduce disparate treatment of youth of color (often referred to as “disproportionate minority contact,” or DMC) and (2) to provide strategies, ideas, and models for advocates, community organizations, public officials, and others addressing DMC.
