As a Professor of Sociology, and Women's Studies and Ethnic Studies, all of Abby's work is committed to advancing social justice. Her first book was White Man Falling: Race, Gender and White Supremacy and most recently she co-edited Sex, Gender, and Sexuality: The New Basics. She directs The Matrix Center for the Advancement of Social Equity and Inclusion, works with the national White Privilege Conference, and co-founded and co-facilitates the Knapsack Institute, a national curriculum transformation project.
